Adrian Bartlett was born in London and studied at Camberwell School of Art under Frank Auerbach.
He established the printmaking studios at Morley College with the artist Birgit Skiold, and taught there as Head of Printmaking for 39 years, sharing his wealth of knowledge and expertise. He was also for many years a visiting lecturer at Oxford University and Wimbledon School of Art.
Adrian was elected a Member of the London Group 1979, and became its President in 1993. He was also an Honorary Member of the Printmakers Council, after having served as Chairman in 1976.
He spent time in the UK and Greece, and exhibited in both countries. He showed work at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions and had a solo show at the British Council, Athens in 1985. Other exhibitions included Oxford Gallery, 1987, Blenheim Gallery, 1988 and Tsikalioti Museum, Greece. He also represented Britain at the Florence Biennale in 1976.
His books included Drawing and Painting the Landscape (Phaidon Press), 1982 and British Art in the Eighties (Bergren Press) in 1983.
