Nicholas Jagger works in wood engraving, currently on a series of work based on sculptural heads. He thinks of these figures as metaphors of the human, particularly in the way they show a relation to time. These forms show signs of physical damage, but this can be something which is not visually represented in the day to day of a human, where experience often lies hidden beneath the surface.
Nicholas exhibits his work widely across the UK and is also a member of Leeds Fine Artists since 2018. He has won several awards for his work at our RE open submission exhibition, International Original Print Exhibition, including the John Purcell Paper Prize, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair Prize and the Society of Wood Engravers Prize.
