Nicholas Jagger ARE

Nicholas Jagger works in wood engraving, and is currently focused on a series of work based on sculptural heads. He thinks of these figures as metaphors of the human experience, particularly in the way they show a relation to time.

These forms show signs of physical damage, and in contrast to the day to day appearance of a person, where the marks of experience often remain hidden beneath the surface, these works bring that internal history into view.

Nicholas exhibits his work widely across the UK and is also a member of Leeds Fine Artists since 2018. He has won several awards for his work at our RE open submission exhibition, International Original Print Exhibition, including the John Purcell Paper Prize, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair Prize and the Society of Wood Engravers Prize.
