I first became interested in printmaking whilst studying fine art at Exeter in the sixties. I went on to do a print post grad at Chelsea, and then an MA at Wimbledon in the ’80s. Now I am not teaching full time I intend to produce and exhibit as much as possible. I have done mainly etching but also use monotype a great deal with my drawing and painting. I also like linocut and screenprint. My studio is in St.Albans where I live, but I have a base in Cornwall which I visit frequently. Although born in Derbyshire my source material has been in the West Country since my student days. I use printmaking processes because I like them, and they are closely bound up with the way I look at places with which I am familiar and from which I work. I admire Prunella Clough, Archile Gorky, Henri Michaux, and a thousand others.
